KANKAKEE, IL — The Iroquois-Kankakee Regional Office of Education’s Life Education Center, in partnership with its Youth Advisory Council, is inviting local agencies, nonprofits, healthcare providers, businesses, and community organizations to participate in Wellness Fest on Saturday, May 16, from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Kankakee Farmers’ Market.
This free, family-friendly event is focused on promoting substance use prevention by highlighting healthy alternatives, positive lifestyle choices, and accessible community resources. Wellness Fest provides a unique opportunity for organizations to engage directly with families, youth, and residents in a welcoming and high-traffic community setting.
Participating organizations will have the opportunity to:
Host an informational or interactive booth
Share resources, services, and upcoming programs
Provide demonstrations, activities, or wellness screenings
Build visibility and strengthen community partnerships
Connect with families seeking support, enrichment, and prevention resources
Wellness Fest emphasizes whole-person wellness — including physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being — and aims to showcase the many local supports that help individuals and families thrive.
“Wellness Fest is about demonstrating that prevention is a community effort,” organizers shared. “When agencies and organizations come together in one space, we make it easier for families to access services, build connections, and see the strength of the support network available to them.”
Organizations interested in hosting a booth or participating are encouraged to contact Lori at the Life Education Center at 815-936-4606 or lmollema@i-kan.org for registration details and partnership information. Registration is also available here.
Together, we can create a visible, unified message that prevention starts with connection, collaboration, and opportunity.
