Our Pledge for Life
Mission Statement and Goals Goals of the Partnership Board of Directors
Throughout the year, students, their families and members of the community are encouraged to “Choose Wise Highs … Choices You Can Life With.” Pledge drives are held at parent nights, junior and senior high schools and at other public activities sponsored by the Partnership. People may also make a Pledge on line
As a volunteer-driven coalition of concerned and dedicated citizens, the Pledge for Life Partnership serves the community by mobilizing and coordinating public and private resources and initiatives to improve the quality of life for all members of the Kankakee - Iroquois region. Adopted October 12, 1995, amended April 1999, reviewed September 2000
The Pledge for Life Partnership’s goals provide the framework for its activities. They have supported its expansion from a school-based kindergarten through junior high school violence and substance abuse prevention program to include a much broader range of educational and community-based approaches promoting positive human development to all age groups and segments of the community.
The goals of the Partnership are:
-To sustain a coalition of individuals and organizations committed to expanding opportunities for youth whose lives are at-risk.
-To engage the entire community in delivering a “womb-to-tomb” life education curriculum that promotes positive youth development and effective parenting through social and emotional learning. The curriculum stresses setting limits and goals and focuses on choosing healthy lifestyles and relationships.
-To increase communication about behavior expectations and consequences regarding alcohol, tobacco and other negative influences.
-To encourage adults to serve as positive role models by becoming volunteers in programs that promote wholesome activities for youth and their families.
